As a small start-up company, we were concerned about the impact that product packaging waste is having on the world around us. In order to help combat this, we want to do our part to reduce the environmental impact and have launched the UK’s first razor cartridge recycling scheme for our customers.
How to recycle used grüum packaging ♻️
As a small start up of average Joes, we’re pretty concerned about the impact that product packaging waste is having on the world around us.
Packaging & peanuts
All orders arrive in cardboard boxes that you can simply break down and pop in the card and paper recycling bin.
Some of our orders contain biodegradable packing peanuts. These are made from GM-free starch, are compostable, and will dissolve in water. You can also keep them for future use!
Plastic bottles
Our plastic bottles are made from either HDPE or LDPE, and caps / spray tops are made from PP, all of which are commonly recycled types of plastics.
However, what is accepted differs between local authorities, so be sure to check what is accepted in your area.
Glass jars & bottles
Some of our products are packaged in recyclable glass, like our oils, face masks and bath salts.
When you’re finished using them, simply give the glass a quick rinse and put them in with your glass recycling. Be sure to pop the lid in the metal recycling bin as well.
Aluminium
A few of our products are packaged using recyclable aluminium, including the lids of our face masks, the lids of our oils and our beard wax.
When you’re finished, simply take off any labels or cap liners, rinse and pop them in your metal recycling.
Cardboard
Most of the products in our zero plastic range are packaged in small cardboard boxes sometimes with protective paper.
These can also go in the card and paper recycling bin.
Glassine bags
The glassine packaging we use to wrap some of our plastic free products is made from PEFC paper.
This is widely recyclable, you can just pop it in with your main stream paper recycling, though it is also compostable and biodegradable.
All you need to do is…
Step 1️⃣ You can return your used razor cartridges back to us in batches of 16.
Step 2️⃣ Your cartridges MUST fit into a Royal Mail Large Letter (Large Letters have a maximum length of 353mm x 250mm with a depth of no more than 25mm and weigh no more than 750g).
Step 3️⃣ Just send your old blades to: FREEPOST GRUUM CARTRIDGE RECYCLING
Step 4️⃣ Once received we’ll recycle them on your behalf.

Introducing the grüum reusables
Reusing is the new recycling We’ve made it easy to get attached to these characters, so you and the planet can be good pals.
Oil dropper
Our reusable dropper is suitable for use with all of our botanisk oils. When your bottle has run out, simply save the dropper, rinse and re-use with your next bottle to make every repeat order plastic-free!
Hand pump
Our hand pumps are reusable. Just make sure to give them a clean before you use in a new bottle. You can do this by pumping through clean warm water and a little vinegar.
Razor handle
Your razor handle is for life! No need to chuck it away. When your razor cartridges start to deteriorate, simply remove and reapply new cartridges to the same handle.
Storage tins
You can use your storage tins over and over again to keep your products in good condition when traveling or around the house. Make sure to clean and dry your tin regularly for best results.
Soap bag
Made from Sisal fibre, with a small wooden bead, this bag is completely biodegradable and even compostable. You can reuse your bag over and over again.
